Dump of the MS-DOS 3.2 based ROM of a Telxon PTC-710.
The EPROM was labelled: 710 / DOS VER 3.5
The Telxon PTC-710 came with either a proprietary TCOS operating system for running TCAL language programs, or MS-DOS 3.2. This is a dump of the MS-DOS ROM and I have confirmed that it will work in other PTC-710 devices that original came with the TCOS ROM.
The ROM is structured with a FAT12 partition at the beginning, and a BIOS following to the end of the EPROM. The ROM resides from E0000h to FFFFFh in the NEC V20's address space, though the ROM disk portion is banked out with the option ROM if installed.
The FAT12 partition contains the following:
- EDISK.COM - 957 bytes - Creates, formats, and removes a system memory based RAM DISK (mounted at A)
- DIAGRX.COM - 732 bytes - Reciever diagnostics, unknown function. (Reciever ver 1.3)
- COMMAND.COM - 24892 bytes - MS-DOS
- TXRXR.EXE - 9061 bytes - Transfers files via XMODEM protocol over serial port. (38400, 19200, and 9600 baud available)
- IO.SYS - 17094 bytes - MS-DOS
- MSDOS.SYS - 30320 bytes - MS-DOS
An 128kB M27C1001-10F1 EPROM held the original ROM, this can be replaced with a modern SST39SF010A Flash EEPROM if desired, as can an EPROM in the option ROM socket.
